This is the email I received from owner upon receiving my e-mail for the quote
Here are two things I want to point out,
A. She got them to rip out the old shower to gutted 2x4s, drywall, tile new shower pan, wall, and ceiling, for merely $100 more, which is significantly more than what I listed about item 1. If you have done so you should know.
B. I had in previous communications explained to her that the contractor would have a hard time accepting the floor job for under $1.5 per sqf, because of removal of old carpet, pad, and countless staples for god-knows how many times the floor had been carpeted. She did not object that. Anybody who had a floor job knows contractors add extra old carpet removal and surface prepartion, She cut them to $1 and no charge for steps(how many steps? 12? 13?), not only for the hallway she claimed very small, but for several other rooms totalled about 6-700 sqf. I don't know if they get paid for putting in quarter round trim and paint.
There are other jobs that they negociated there which I was not aware of.
As for the owner's claim that some installations were not correct, since there are so many conflicting statement from both sides, I have no reason to trust such claim more than other statement she made. I am sorry, if I suspect you have been lying on issue x, you might as well be lying on issue B. The photos show some spot of slopyness in workmanship, but not sufficient to make me to determine the overall project which covers 3 levels and 1600 sqf.
