Do you still want to be a landlord?

A white girl friend came by.  Her mom has to live is a nursing home now.  Her mom is rich and has about 1M asset.  She has to pay $7000 a month.  I was worried.  What happen if she ran out of money.  Her daughter said, no worry, when my mom's asset lower below the level of $2000. She will be eligible for MediCal (MediCal is for poor people), and she will not need to pay a dime.  Now her roommates are all MediCal and do not need to pay at all.  

This make me think:  Why should I work now?  I have to change to MediCal eventually.  What do we save money for?  for the nursing home or goverment?
