the garage door part sounds like simple fix.  Even the coil springs are not that difficult to replace.  Torsional springs may be more dangerous.

Living in America, I feel it's almost unethical to outsource all these trivial repairs to "handimen".  All you need is Home Depot plus a good attitude.  Sometimes Google can help too.
