It should be cleaned up everyday to get rid of all food residues. Everything spilled on should be cleaned asap. The magic formula is: baking soda+ lemon juice. Better than any commercial cleaner.
I just got a new glass top range. Then, one day, I spilled some sugar/ jelly sauce on one burner. To make it worse, I didn't get rid of it immediately. It was hardened and gets really tough. :-(
What to do? Lucky enough, I found the resolve after scratching my head for two days.
1. Pour out half teaspoon of baking soda, spray in a few drops of lemon juice. It creates a foam like paste.
2. Spread it on top of the food spill, put a piece of warm, damp clothes on top.
3. Wait for a few minutes, use a razor blade scraper to scrape it off, in 30-60 degree angle, slowly.
Ok, 95% is gone.
4. Use Mr. Clean magic eraser to wipe out the residue. 99% done!
Never, never leave sugar spill on glass cooktop! Never again.
