The Giants record:

2008: Started the season with 10-1 & ended the season with 12-4 record

2009: Started the season with 5-0 but ended the season 8-8

2010: Started the season with 6-2 & ended the season with 10-6 but missed playoff to Green Bay Packers, who also finished the season with 10-6 record. 

If there is a trend, the Tom Coughlin-led Giants team encouters fewer problems during the first half of their schedule but having tough time to deal with the second half each season.

Put in mind though, each season is different :)
