according to AMA, there are 850k doctors in practice. Assume the average income of a doc is 250k nationwide, that is 850k * 250k = 0.2 trillion.
the national medical cost in US is 20% of GDP which is 2.6 trillion. as you can see, the money which went to doctors is only 10 percent of the 2.6t. Most of hospitals are non-profit orgnizations in US. They do not make much net profits. Majority of the money goes to pharmaceutical/medical device companies and insurance companies.
my guess is as follows:
doctors: 10%
nurses and hospitals: 15%
the rest goes to lawyers,insurance companies, drugs, medical devices, lab diagnosis companies.
