When we were learning English back in school, very often "Mr. Smith" will be used to represent (stereotype) an English name ---- I never thought about why, only felt that Smith was probably a very popular last name in English-speaking countries. Now that we spent so many years here, honestly I just realized that I never met a single Smith, Mr or Mrs ... Did any1 of you guys meet any ever? :)

If not, why was Smith chosen at the first place?
