It was true if you bought 30yr bonds in 1980 you make a killing, but key question is now bond almost at a historical peak, almost the oppososite situation compared with 1980. I will bet the farm that if you put your 100% net worth into 30yr bond today, you will not fare as well as in 1980.
And on the other hand, housing price is near the most depressed level.
Looking at history is essential, but mechanically apply it is fatal.
