intersting to share

I put an ad in CL to lease a house. There are a couple of people from UK sent email to me saying that they are relocated by company and want to lease the house. Paperwork will be signed once they come here.
I knew these are crooks since I have heard some stories before. I replied to each of them and answer questions (since I have plenty of time to kill at work) and showed great interest to their coming.
They stopped bother me now after several emails a day I sent to them (I may keep sent to them for another week before I found something else interesting).
What I don't understand is what can these people gain by doing this? They are fishing for what?
