Q about REO house: what's bank response time?

My parnets offered a REO house last Thursday through listing agent (full price). They haven't heard any response from bank yet. Usually how long will bank take? The listing agent told them 24 - 48 hours before they made the offer. Now the listing agent just said be patient... Is there any trick inside? Should they still wait or go for other houses?
