HVCC took effect on 05/01/09. It does not allow

mortgage agents order appraisals from appraisers directly to avoid potential value inflation. Appraisals must be ordered via AMC now (appraisal management company) and you don't know who's gonna do your appraisal. Unfortunately, this practice put a lot of home owners and buyers in a very bad situation. Many of them paid the fees to AMC but got shitty reports. The fee is higher because AMC will take a cut and it'll take longer than before. Value will come in 10-30% lower than before because many appraisers will appraise to the low end to protect themselves... There is a bill to kill HVCC: www.hvccpetition.com. Sign it if you support it.

Now in regards to your question, did your agent remove loan contingency? If not, you won't lose your money.
