US don't manufacture anything now, all are imported, on your theory, these corporations have to reinvest into the US to start the manufacturing sector, that requires money (which they don't have), time (not to be done in a year or two) and infrastructure. Also loosen up the local environment protection policy.

Things made in the US are not cheap, price will go up, CPI will rise and inflation too, then interest rate. So is the cost of debt. US dollar will go up because government pays a better interest. Your tax will increase is the social security benefits and burden of deadbeats on street don't want to work. No more cheap japanese cars, you go back in time to buy the worthless US made cars. I thought we have gone through this in the 70s and 80s when the fed fund rate was as high as 17%?

Simply put, US life style is Unsustainable, not on this planet. Regardless if there is globalization or not, fat Joes don’t want to work but want to enjoy the world’s best is simple smoking too much. US government and its people have to cut back its spending, learn how not to fight two wars simultaneously while giving tax cuts and learn how to share resources with other countries. Self protectionism will just isolate US more and make its life more miserable. .
