There's noting worse than missing a good pic w/bad ballhead

Technically, you can use any cheap ballhead (没有外界影响的话). Do you ever wounder why RRS/Kirk cost 4x more (they not made by gold)?

Ps. Invest a good ballhead not like invest to a DSLR, it's for life time (when you upgrade, the old one sales value still worth same as a new.)
