Does your company have any procedure on petty cash request – for example, who should approve for such request and do you have any approval threshold? If you company does have policy that your boss need to approve for all request, you are wrong in this one since you didn’t follow the policy and procedure.

If you are not comfortable with such “complicated” environment, you should start looking for a bigger company with better rules.
