The problem is that these school cost over 20k a year. So 12 years will be a quarter million dollar for each kids in today's money. If you have more than 2 kids, going to private school definitely cost you a lot more than buying into good school district. Plus the money into a house can be recovered when selling. The tuition, however, will hardly come back to you.
Everything being said, I do get sick of Cupertino too, just my 2 cents from finance point of view.
