Theoretically, you cannot negotiate the appraisal, but, sometimes, the one who hired him can hint with a kind of pressure, though it is illegal.

You may want to choose your own closing agent / title company to avoid any complications. But, usually the bank wants to choose that.

What region are you in? I have a very good one, but I am in DC.
