OMG! House was broken into, endless hassle of rental house

Continue with the story: when I was doing yardwork, found a window was broken. Then emailed those girls about the situation, the next day they found house was broken into. Nothing was stolen but a room door was smeshed.
Anybody encounter this kind of issue before? Anything that can suggest?
I don't know if insurance covers it. Usually tenants pay for the damage or landlord? How to deal with this?
