This is not a bad year for Federer considering the fact that he won one title, two runner-ups, and one semi. It is great to see him still keep high level and most others difficult to beat him after these years. I am big fan of this guy. But honestly, his days can be counted. One biggest difference he had this year is that his game intensity dropped a lot. He could not remain high game level throughout the match as he did before. Today he used his experience and made use of the inexperience of his opponent. We saw him broke in the second set and immediately was broken in the follwoing game. This seldom happened during his prime time and normaly he could keep the advantage to the end of the set. He then raised his game and seize the opportunity to broke Andy again. He cound win the dejected Murry today but would have little chance if it were against Nadal.
Maybe this has been always true that Federer can not keep high level throughout the game, especially on clay. That maybe the key to his losses to Nadal because he could not keep attacking Nadal on clay or other slow surfaces. I play tennis (4.0+) and know how difficult it is to attack those who can put the ball back with lobs and slices, let alone the heavy top spin by Nadal.
Anyhow, his win gave me motivation to install Dish Network with Tennis channel and I just did :-)
