western style soup :dutch oven
Chinese chicken/pork fillet soup: slower cooker 1.5qt works so nicely for me!
Chinese stir-fry: carst iron wok (I bought Mr. BBQ $15, so far nicely used)
Western steak: cast iron skillet

In my opinion, cast steel is too thin. Its temp increase too quickly and easily produce smoke in the hosue. I spent $60 on a set of 14 inch Traditional Cast Iron Wokset from wok shop of Amazon. Only used twice and stay in cabinet. Although it is called cast iron, it is very thin. I don't recommand it.
