鸡肋合同说88, 找到更好咱再乐!
I am happy with my current job (been here four years), 90k a year (10 years
Programming experience). But after I heard this guy get paid 100k, that guy gets paid 120k, etc...
-- Many times know less is better than know more.
I started to look for new job, then found a consulting position at a big company, $60/hr, about 120k/year without benefit.
-- $$ wise, what you find is not worth you to move.
After I told my boss, first he said he is going to match me, but after he heard it is not full time job, he said he can't match with contract jobs. But he persuades me to stay. That's weird to me, if you can raise my salary, why don't just raise it. What do you guys think?
-- Because your manager is paying you the fair market value;
-- If you get a slid offer of FTE with $120k, then he will match you.
-- Otherwise, you get a $60/hr contractor job, its equal to your $100k FTE, so your manager knew it is same $$.
-- Are you kidding? Don't you know $60/hr contractor is somehow same as $100k FTE?
To go,
Pro:
New company's big name might be good for my resume.
Doing something new in new company.
-- New not necessarily means markartable, for example, if you are a Oracle DBA, then, go to a big company to MySQL DBA is new for you, but not much value to add.
Pay just a little bit better (because of no benefit)
-- No, pay is not higher, but more risky and no benefit.
Con:
New Company is far from home.
-- a big impact on lifestyle, you will be tired on the more hours of driving and more gas and wear of car.
Don't know if I can fit in the new position (I guess you will have this feeling if you stay at a position for a long time)
-- Then, forget it. Stay.
