(You can adopt the universal approach described below)
First, don't count on the e-mail response. Pick up the phone, try to talk to a support person. Don't count on professors who usually do not have hands-on experience. Try to find some senior graduates/undergraduates who know. It's much easier to has someone coach you face-to-face.
Second, try to locate the Synopsys user's group. I checked the web. There is one called "Solvnet".
In the long run, you shall attend a training seminar at the company (ask your boss to pay for it).
