Difference between BEng and BS

Length:
BEng 3 years(common in Europe), BS 4 years(common in NA)

Content:
1st year in BS degree will be general science knowledge and you can pick your choice (eg.Mechanical, Electrical, Civil etc.) afterward. In BEng, you start to learn your major straight from 1st year.

In terms of contents, I don't think there are many variation, they are more or less equivalent.
