most company today are very careful about giving out employment information.
if your new boss personally know someone in your old place, then they may get more details.
if you new company go thought HR dept in your old company. the only thing they confirm is the when your employment started in the old company, and when it ended. many companies don't even disclose your title/position. they don't want unnecessary lawsuit either.
