If you are going to an onsite interview, you should find out the company dress code. For most company, the dress code is working casual. Some IT companys' codes are casual. Black dress might be too much. It is important to let your managers and team members feel you are one of them. A little bit more formal than company dress code is enough. Formal dress is safe if you don't know the company's dress code.
