Some thought

Yao’s ability to catch the ball while he is moving is worst in the entire NBA league. So he has to stand out of the painting area to wait for the teammates pass the ball to him. This created a lot of turnovers for the ball passer because his lack of flexibility (slow), and the way is too easy for the opponents to know the ball moving and therefore easy to break the pass. When he was trying to run the ball to the painting area after he got the ball in the area out of the painting area, the slowing moving and predictable moving direction also created a lot of turnovers for him. The shot percentage is down significantly because he is too far away from the hook. So the key for him to improve is the ball catching in the moving.
It’s also very important to have a good point guard. You know what the factors are for a good PG by looking at Nash’s playing: a) high shot percentage; b) to pass the ball in the right place. If you are the good shooter, the opponents must pay enough attention to you when you have the ball otherwise you are going to shot and make points. If too many opponents come to you, then you pass the ball to your teammate.
When the Rocket is in the offense end, each player is just standing at their position and shot, there is no whole team’s moving as a machine, no ball pass while the teammates are moving.
Once again, it’s not right if you just use one way (the current way) to pass the pall to Yao for entire game. Yao needs to improve his mobility and ball catching ability, so the teammates can pass the ball to him while he is moving and this will create a lot of chance for him to get the ball in the painting area.
