I would say a zoom lens is more versatile

You probably need Canon 16-35mm f/2.8.

f/1.4 wide angle prime lenses are quite expensive: 24mm f/1.4 and 35mm f/1.4 are over $1000.

Or an artistic approach: get Sigma 30mm f/1.4 for about $400. This lens is for APS-C sensor (but will mount on 5D), so you get vignetting on the edges. But that may be quite artistic for wedding photos!
