Spot metering is meaured scientifically by it's size,

so 1%, 2% are not accurate, because otherwise people will think the D70 has better metering system than the D2X, the reality is that:
D70 2.3mm 3D Matrix
D80/D40/D50 3.5mm 3D Matrix II
D2X/D300 3mm 3D Matrix II
D3 4mm 3D Matrix II
while the D70 has the smallest spot meter, it is the least advanced metering system compared with the other models.
