The light in a cafeteria is dimmer than in a classroom.

I had softboxes with the strobe lights and were used in taking the first photo. But for taking the activity candid photos, with the softboxes on, the light is too dim and not helping much in a large room: balancing the little help with the loss of light intensity, I took the softboxes off.

Similarly for reflecting from walls. With more powerful strobe lights, this would be a feasible option.
