these are fine cameras, but be aware that they're the first nikon dslr's that don't have an auto focus moter in the body, so you may later find the choices of lens (that will auto focus) are very limited. Compared to them, d50 is still a better choice in my opinion. Or you can spend more $$ and get the d80.
