I am not happy with the flowers as well, I did not use the 105mm to shoot landscape this time, mostly used for family portraits.

TC1.7 maybe too much for the 70-300mm( and the Nikon one does not work with the 70-300mm ) but I am pleasantly surprised with Kenko Pro 1.4.
