I have owned Sigma 12-24mm, Nikon 12-24mm and Tokina 12-24mm, the sigma is rather soft, the Nikon is sharp, but distortion control is not as good as the Tokina, so I finally kept the Tokina, and sold the Nikon instead ( of course also saved some money along the way )

#1 is a cropped version, I cropped some tulip fields ( about 1/4) from the bottom, and I still print out 20x8 and mounted on a frame, with close examination, it is still pretty sharp, no visible degrading of the quality, considering after crop, this file is only about 3-4mp out of a 6mp D100.
