发EMAIL is OK, but you need talk to your boss daily anyway

You need keep the communication channel open between you and your boss, talk is easier than email.
Spend 3 to 5 min everyday talk to your boss, chat with her.
If you think the technical is important, that's OK. You need talk with her, let her know thidea, then after things works well, say: because I followed your idea, we made great progress.... (her idea, NOT yours)..(ehn you become the boss, the idea will be yours at that time...)
