Oracle 9i was realsed around ~2001, with better memory management and self tunning capaility. People are happy and said 'We do not need DBA any more'.
Yes there are many QA jobs moved to Asia.
There are many developer jobs moved out also.
There are some DBA jobs also moved out. Some big 24 x7 company have local DBA do the job in USA day time and Asia DBA continue the shift in USA night time.

Just did a search of "DBA" on hotjobs, get 848 jobs openning as of today. (you can try by yourself."
Again, Data is everything. You should get the conclusion by yourself as long as you believe the DATA.
Do you think company will give their important database to remote people in Asia? unless they think the data is useless.
