You can't compare the salary in Bay area to the middle east. I graduated in 2002. My classmates make quite different depending on your ability, local and working field, not sex. If you are doing web application, it should pay lower salary. If you work as a firmware engineer or embedding system, the income is much higher.

I don't think GAP makes big difference. I have been in home for almost one year and still got good pay which was better than I quit my previous job.
