LA vs. San Francisco

I applied the position in 2 large companies's San Franscisco office. For some reason, both companies' HR called and asked if I would be interested in their LA office. I think they have more need in LA for my experience. What is everyone'experience in comparing the two cities? I have been traveled to both cities and I prefer SF. How is the school system in LA? I have kids so this is really important. Thanks.
