I could not resist a super fare FLL/PDX for $193.50 total in August, plus we have 2 x $200 bump vouchers that we need to use this year, so I bought it to travel 2 weeks in the North West.
Our plan is to fly in/out of PDX but will make a loop from Portland to Vancouver. Years back we have visited Olympia NP in WA (but in bad March/April weather), also Columbia River Gauge (with our rental car almost died on snowing I-5). We also did the beautiful Oregan Coast. So this time we would want to visit Crater Lake NP.
Could you suggest what to do in Portland which I know has a very old and big bookstore, as well as Oregan ?
We are rather familiar with Seattle as we have passed thru it so many times for our Vancouver trip (1/3 cheaper to fly to SEA than to YVR). However, would appreciate any suggestions regarding WA.
Also any suggestions of the scenic drives in the region are greatly appreciated.
I should have booked the trip in July during the Cherry season. But my mind was dense in late night and booked August instead. So we probably could only go peach picking instead of cherry picking, in Okinagan Valley of BC.
