-Leavenworth, a man made German town, is 3 hours east of Seattle on Hwy 2 right before you hit all the orchards in Wenatchee.

-If you visit Olympic NP, stop by the town of Poul*****o, a Norway town (that is if you are up for that kind of stuff).

-Summer in Northwest is very mild and can barely be considered warm. Temporature above 80 degree is rare (considering residential houses don't even have air conditioning). Any time you get close to the water (and there is lots of them as you know), you need to wear a jacket.

-Weather has a lot to do with the Pacific ocean stream whether it's La Nino or El Nino. I never remember which is which - but one of them is dry and mild weather and the other is really wet and stormy weather.
