For us who dont have a job that entails lots of travel on business, any sign up bonuses on pts, miles, airline bump vouchers, etc are like God sent. :-)

I am looking at my AA account, it has a measly 170K balance and a lifetime 360K only. Still 2/3 away from lifetime Gold. :-(

Hotels in Europe, Japan and Australia are outrageously expensive. I am happy if 1/2 of our stays can be paid by points.
