I sharpenned and brightened the photo a little, which brought out the noise a little more. I was not allowed to bring a monopod into the game, so I shot at a higher speed (thus a little darker/more noise). So effectively, I was shooting at about ISO 1000-1200 without sharpening.

If I could use a monopod with me, 1/320 sec shutter speed is probably fast enough for freezing the motion (and may be no need for sharpening either).

The noise at ISO 800 is fairly acceptable for Canon 300D. But at ISO 1600, noise is quite bit more: more noise than 30D at ISO 3200.
