I also support the philosophy for 1 lens for all occasions, and 18-200mm is the right focal length range. And VR is very helpful.

I myself carry Sigma 18-200mm + Sigma 30mm f/1.4, so that I have coverage both in zoom range and low lighting situations.

To LZ: Sigma currently have one lens with OS: 80-400mm. It has announced the 18-200mm OS over 2 months ago. My guess is it should be available this month or the next. And the price should be about half as much as Nikon's 18-200 VR.
