Is MSG safe for infants and pregnant women?(网上查的)

Yes. Extensive research shows MSG is safe for all humans, including infants and pregnant women.

Despite the popular misconception, U.S. baby food manufacturers were never prohibited from using MSG in baby food. Rather, the general use of food additives in baby food was voluntarily ended more than two decades ago.

Breast milk is naturally high in glutamate; the average human infant ingests 150 to 200 milligrams of free glutamate daily from its motherÌs milk. A nursing mother should also know that the level of glutamate in her breast milk does not increase following ingestion of glutamate.

Research has shown that the placental barrier does not allow MSG to pass from a mother to her unborn child, so pregnant women need not be concerned about foods that contain MSG.
