a hard decision is if you...

...own either Canon or Nikon equipments from your film SLR, otherwise both cameras are being widely used, and earning a good reputation of imaging quality (Canon may be advanced in digital image than Nikon does).
D70 was just shipped out in March，it is still hot. on the other hand, you may get a good deal on EOS...
a rumor said EOS may have a new version (end with -x?)coming soon. well there is no free lunch.
