well, that recipe doesn't require seperate egg whites, and it should be just as stated. I used it to make cakes several times and alway succeeded. I am sorry that your didn't, and i really don't know what could go wrong.when u r following the step by step, do your mixture come out looking the same or similar texture? if yes then it could be the oven temperature, no matter what it should not smell bad. since the beginning to the end it should always smell good. :( i will post the other recipe for seperate eggs next time, hope that would work for u.
