Monkfish is nick named

poor man's lobster in the north east region, because its texture has some similarity to lobster tail meat and is less expensive. Personally I don't think they come close. Stores only sell the fish's tail meat.

It's from Atlantic and of the anglerfish family. There are anglerfishes in asia that're not exactly monkfish.
