It's all about a judgement

I understand that you are new to the job market, and you probably have not had good experience in dealing with it. However, you need to be very carefull about every word you say and every email you write to the potential employers, and even to your boss and your colleagus in the future. Because they represent you. Your reputation is built on what you convey through communications.

If I were the HR manager who received your previous email, I would think that you are not professional, not mature and lack of good judgement. Family reunion in Chinese culture may be important, but don't expect Americans to understand and accept it. Next time, use your brain instead of your emotion. It's all about a judgement.
