talking about sludge

this week, i help one of my friends to inspect a 99 V6 camry. Because of the sludge concern, especially with the V6 model, I paid some extra attention to that.

The simple easy way is to open the oil cap and look inside around that place, for a well maintained engine without any sludge, under the cap, it should very clean and without anything built up in that place.
the build up looks like wax brownish color, if you use finger nail to scrub, you can get it off.

Of course, it is very obvious that that camry has sludge problem, and my friend did not go with it.
