I think you have every reason to send this well written letter to the teacher. A parent has the right to express his/her concern regarding the kid. Imagine if this child is from a Muslim family or Buddhist family, the peer pressure to him from the whole class is quite offensive. I would commend the kid for being brave. At the age of 10 or 11, a teacher is still powerful to her students. That's why I think it's a great idea to send (or hand deliver) this letter to the teacher (then perhaps have a heart-to-heart talk). Canada, like USA, is a free country, you have the freedom to believe in God, Allah, Buddha, or none. I feel this is a great opportunity for this class to learn about diversity and tolerance.
