I am doing research with my daughter for these schools so far, all college of engineering。
She is interested in math/CS, pretty good at chemistry/biology, might go for PhD after 4 years.
Here is what we got so far:
UIUC, good engineering, top 5 CS, not sure about else.
UCLA, top public school, sunny california
Harvey Mudd, my daughter really likes it, small class, undergraduate research, good STEM education, tough grading, good job prospect in west coast or graduate study. Not as known as say, Cornell.
Wash U, engineering?
Cornell, Ivy name, good engineering, somehow, my daughter didn't like it much.
Cost of attending: UIUC 36k, UCLA 64k, Harvey Mudd 64k after 10k scholarship, Wash U/Cornell both about 74k
Cost is not particularly important for us, but if everything else is close, then that's a factor.
First kid going to college, learning a lot, hope to get some good help/suggestion here for her to make informed decision. Thanks in advance.
