As a national winner in science/math competition

I did not encourage my children to spend a lot of time in math.

It has pros/cons

They probably are not the best students (even though they got "A"s)

The true genus are those children who do not spend a lot of time, but are still doing very well.  If your children do belong to those, congratulations!  Otherwise, having a solid general education is more important than math.
