stents are very safe if it is done by a skilled cardiologist

The coronary stents are very safe in skilled hands.  The follwoings need to be considered:

1). renal function: a fairly large amount of iv contrast are used, it may cause renal damage if patient already had chronic kidney disease, especially if the GFR is close to 30%.

2). The coronary artery leions are diffuse or a very long lesion is involved, the stents may not be the solution, he then needs coronary artery bypass grafing.
